Capri galleries

The Capri Art Gallery (CAG) was estabilished in the 1999 under Franco Senesi's initiative. A native of Capri, and with more than twelve years of experience dealing in art with foreign markets, he decided to open a new and unique space on the island with a group of selected artists visitors can view their recent works.

Capri museums

The Cerio Museum is situated in the famous Piazzetta of Capri, opposite the Church of St Stefano. The Museum houses approximately 20.000 natural and archaeological exhibits.

The Acatholic Cemetery (Cimitero Accatolico) in Capri, created in 1878 with the support of Cerio, provides precious evidence for the reconstruction of the history over the last one hundred years on the island of Capri.

Villa San Michele in Anacapri was the home of the Swedish physician, Axel Munthe. Built on the ruins of an ancient Chapel, the villa now belongs to the Axel Munthe Foundation and has been transformed into a Capri museum. A number of ancient artefacts are displayed - objects found by Munthe in Capri, Anacapri and other places. 
Fragments of sarcophaguses, busts, Roman paving, marble and columns can be observed. In the garden there is a Greek tomb and a granite Sphinx which gazes out over the whole Island of Capri. 
The Charterhouse of St. Giacomo is an old monastery which is comprised of three blocks of buildings: one which is separate from the convent and houses the pharmacy and women’s church; one for the converse monks and for the external guests with annexed granaries, stables and the monks workshops; the last block was reserved for the life of seclusion with a series of cells around 
Today, the monastery serves as a museum, which houses for example two statues which were found underwater in 1964, in the Grotta Azzurra.
