The most well know Dusseldorf sights are the Rheinturm, Altstadt and the Medienhafen.

The Rheinturm provides you with a perfect view all over Dusseldorf. You can find the 234 m high Rheinturm in the center of the Medienhafen quarter. On top of this tower, the panoramic view at Dusseldorf is wonderful. At the height of 166 m is an observation platform with a self service restaurant. Altstadt is the historic city center of Dusseldorf. Here you will mostly find shops, cafes and restaurants. This part of the city is often called “the longest bar in the world”. The Rathaus is the city hall of Dusseldorf. It was first built in the 16th century, but was rebuilt in 1958 in the style of 18th century blueprints. That’s why it looks like a baroque building. In the middle of the square, in front of the Rathaus, there is a bronze equestrian statue of Jan Wellem. This Dusseldorf attraction is considered one of the most beautiful equestrian statues north of the Alps.

Schlossturm is a tower of a former castle. You will find this tower, which belonged to the in 1872 burnt down castle of Jülich en Berg, at Burgplatz on a riverbank of the Rhine. Nowadays it’s a maritime museum, a part of the Stadtmuseum (city museum). On the other side of the Burgplatz are the Radschlägerbrunnen, which is a 1954 fountain that portrays a Dusseldorf tradition.

This church with its leaning spire is the oldest building of Dusseldorf. Its history dates back to the 13th century, but was almost destroyed after an explosion of the city’s gunpowder tower. After WWII it was rebuilt. Inside you will find the monument of Duke Wilhelm V and wonderful Maria icons from the 12th to the 14th century, as well as frescos.
