Riga is not an expensive city; even eating out is very cheap. The choice of Riga restaurants is broad. The best place for an extensive breakfast, at every hour of the day, is Ai Karamba! in the New Town. In this part of the city you will also find the more luxurious Riga restaurants like Bergs, Amphora and Vincents. Restaurant Vincents is one of the best restaurants in Riga, situated in a basement of an Art Nouveau building. It’s not cheap but the food is really wonderful. You can often spot local celebrities in Vincents and Elton John likes to dine here when he’s in town.

The Fellini cinematic theme is pleasantly understated while the chef is actually from Naples, giving Fellini the edge over its rivals who often only guess at what real Italian cooking involves. A highlight is the first-rate homemade pasta and it’s one of the few places in town that serves the hallowed truffle. For sushi you need to head for Kabuki, perhaps the best of the string of venues that have helped make sushi all the rage in Riga. The choice is ordering off the menu or just grabbing anything that tempts from the constantly moving conveyor belt.
