Tallinn: a fairytale old town

There are lots of cultural places and landmarks to see in Tallinn.
Excellent quality hotels from which you can visit these places are online bookable.

Linnahall
Built for the 1980 Olympic Games sailing events, the Linnahall in Sadama, offers a superb city views from its roof. The deteriorating limestone and concrete concert hall divides Estonians. Some love its stark Soviet architecture, others want it destroyed.

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral
Tallinn's largest and grandest cupola cathedral dominates the skyline with its 'onion dome'. The architect, Mikhail Preobrazhenski from St Petersburg, dedicated the church to the Prince of Novgorod, Alexander Yaroslavitz Nevsky, who led the famous Ice Battle on the banks of Lake Peipsi on 5 April, 1242 and halted the Germans' eastward advance.

Old Town
Tallinn's medieval Old Town dates back to the 13th century and is one of the best-preserved in Europe. Its maze of cobbled streets is almost entirely in its original form, along with important state buildings and churches from the Middle Ages.
From the 15th century Tallinn became powerful as a member of the Hanseatic League, and its wealth is reflected in the opulence and architecture of the public buildings, churches and merchants' houses. Highlights include the Town Hall and St Olav's Church.
